Block Party

And FINALLY, on Saturday evening, we had our block party for the nearby neighbourhood that we are targeting for our church plant. It was the initial foray into the neighbourhood, and we feel that it went very well. I'm just posting personal pictures here, and the rest will be on our mission blog here. Although it most likely won't be published until tomorrow. :)
The kids always enjoy these types of outreaches. They get to play games, eat unsupervised and just mill about doing whatever they please. The entire team helps me keep an eye on them, so they usually wind up with more than enough cokes, cookies, and candy to satisfy an army of small children.

Daniel had a blast in the little bounce, although the slide on the front was a huge part of the attraction.

A good drink really hits the spot on a dusty day.

Cokes, chips, and a hotdog occupied most of Nate's time. He is a slow eater and not always the most adventurous. Reckless, yes, adventurous, not so much.

The big bounce is always a favorite of Kaytie's.

Elizabeth is one cool puppeteer!

Daniel, sweet-talking Uncle Ken out of one more oreo cookie!

Abbie wasn't feeling well and spent most of the afternoon snoozing in a pickup truck with an excellent babysitter.

"Whaddya mean, I'm not the coolest dude on the puppet team? I'm certainly the most handsome!"
But the best part, was after we got home and had our baths and I was putting the kids to bed. Kaytie asked me why we did block parties. So I explained to her that we wanted to tell people about Jesus, like the verse we learned in school. "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation..." So she said, "OH! Yes, we believe that verse. We believe that verse so that is why we do it." It was just so cool to me that she made the connection that our actions follow our beliefs.
