2012 A Year in Review

2012 was such a busy year for us, so full of change, excitement, adventure, and more change!
We started the year off, as we usually do, by celebrating Kaytie's birthday.

We were in a little bit of a holding pattern, having just finished an incredibly hard and stressful ministry, and not sure what came next, while we said good-bye to people we had come to think of as family.

In February, we learned, abruptly, that we would be moving and then that we would be moving to an entirely different city.

Only, it wasn't good-bye just yet, because even though the Dad was transferred, we didn't have a place to live just yet. So we started packing. But slowly, because there was plenty of other stuff going on:
Nate's eighth birthday.

And just general weirdness.

In March, Steve left for the new city, but because we still didn't have a house, we stayed. He came to see us on weekends and the packing continued. As did the goodbyes.

And there was St. Patrick's Day.

Funny thing, I looked and looked for pictures of boxes, since we lived half-packed for over a month, but I guess I am really good at angling pictures, because I have a lot of pictures, but can't find any of boxes. This is the best I have...

In April, we finally bid adieu to our house and native city and joined Daddy. But we STILL didn't have a place to live, so we hunkered down in a motel room. All six (sometimes seven, when my nephew came to help out) of us in one room for over a month. Fun stuff.

We did our best to keep the crazy at bay.

Finally, in May, we were able to move into our glorious new home. One of the first things we did was light a fire in the fireplace and toast some marshmallows.

Then we settled back into school and a regular routine.

June was full of swimming

In July we celebrated the 4th, of course.

And solved a code that revealed the surprise of swimming lessons.

Swimming lessons were fun.

We started our new school year in August.

In September, we started soccer and had a blast. We were quite busy, but having a lot of fun.

November meant Daniel's birthday,

learning to read,

the loss of Daniel's first tooth.

And, of course, Thanksgiving.

December brought Abbie's birthday tea party.
