8th Grade Curriculum Plans

This is the third post of our plans for the 2017 and 2018 school year.  You can check out the other grades on the landing page or click on the links at the end of this post.

Nate (8th grade)

Even though he will only be eighth grade, he will earn seven credits this year. He has always done the same work as Kaytie, but I am letting him lag behind a little this year because I don't want him graduating crazy early and there is just some stuff she is doing that he honestly isn't ready for. He has plenty of time to get his credits and do other things without me pushing him ahead. He is a smart guy and can catch up with her later if he needs/wants to.

We will be putting a lot of focus this year on independent learning, self-motivation and holding oneself accountable. He will have his own planner and I will be teaching him to schedule out his work and then get. it. done.

Math U See Algebra 1 (1 credit)

Language Arts:

Biology (1 credit) I am planning on a homeschool mom friend teaching Kaytie and Nate Apologia biology. I am really very excited about this! I love outsourcing and she is going to give them a great science year! Her son is a good friend of theirs, so they are excited, too!

Streams of Civilization I (1 credit) They will be doing this independently as well as listening to Mystery of History readings with the little kids every morning.

Around the World in 180 Days (1 credit) A quick, easy and fun way to get that World Geography credit!

Spanish II from a local teacher (1 credit) I love outsourcing!

Tech: CompuScholar (1 credit) He has already started working on this and will be working on it through the summer.

Forensic Science (1 credit): He chose this as an elective. I am still figuring out how to do it on a high school level.
